While law firms seem to have somewhat successfully adopted document management system, it is a different story for their record management systems. Mattern & Associates 2016 Cost Recovery Survey results show that 90 percent of firms have some type of records retention policy; with 77 percent confirming is it as formally while 13 percent reporting it as informally.
The study further finds that only 68 percent of those with these records retention policies cover electronic and paper data and 25 percent said their retention policy only covers paper.
