As a follow-up to last week’s blog concerning the impact of recently announced changes at Ricoh, Mattern talked with Ricoh leadership and learned the following:
Managed Services Customers
Mattern & Associates verified with Ricoh leadership that layoffs should not impact Managed Services customers of Ricoh USA (customers with an on-site labor component). Any Managed Services customers will continue to be serviced directly by Ricoh USA, including smaller auxiliary offices of national deals that only possess equipment. Any sales contracts for Managed Services customers will also be retained by Ricoh USA.
Small Equipment-only Customers
The recent changes, whereby Ricoh announced layoffs and a corresponding shift of sales and service staff from Ricoh USA to the Ricoh Family Group (RFG) network of dealers, impact smaller equipment-only customers (e.g., law firms with 10 attorneys or less with a couple pieces of equipment).
The Updated Skinny
In essence, unless you are an extremely small firm only buying a couple pieces of equipment, Ricoh is not moving your sales and support model to its dealer network.
As promised, if we hear of any additional changes affecting law firms and their service providers, Mattern & Associates will provide further updates.
Enjoy the holiday weekend.
