April IG Coffee Break: “The State of Law Firm Information Governance: Policy, Retention and Implementation”

Mattern released the results of its 2024 Information Governance Survey, developed in conjunction with input from Leigh Isaacs Zidwick, CIGO, DLA Piper. With more than 50 firms responding, ranging in size from 35 to 3,000 attorneys, the Mattern 2024 IG Survey provides law firms with first-in-kind data surrounding industry-wide practices on data and email retention, compliance, storage, digitization and matter mobility. The discussions were held regarding common roadblocks to the development and implementation of information governance (IG) policies.

We were thrilled to have company president, Rob Mattern, host Leigh as well as Mattern consultant Nathan Curtis, IGP, for an informative and interactive discussion diving into the key elements and results of the survey, including: – The gaps between IG policy and implementation – The state of retention across a variety of data repositories – The frequency of IG stipulations in outside counsel guidelines – The impact of exceptions granting and weak enforcement
